Behind the name ‘Lucky’ of the shocking two-faced calf lies a harsh truth of nature that few dare to speak about.

THIS is brave little calve born with two faces will have you double-taking.

A farmer thought he had a set of twin calves in his field, but on closer inspection he realised he had one lucky cow.

On the McCubbin farm northeast of Campbellsville, Missouri, the birth of a heifer calf is anything but rare.

But Lucky, as she’s known, really suits her name.

Walking his Spurlington Road property Stan McCubbin had to take a second glance when he noticed a new calve on the farm.

While the family says she is lucky to be alive, she does have her share of problems.

The middle two of her four eyes don’t blink so they are vulnerable to flies, and while she is able to stand up, she walks in circles and then falls over.

Most animals with this incredibly rare genetic mutation are stillborn.

Lucky, though — the McCubbins say — seems healthy.

But their concern is how long that will last.

Since Lucky’s birth, the McCubbins say they’ve had several visits from people who have heard about the calf with two faces and just want to see her up-close.
