LOYAL PUP: Incredible moment lost dog is rescued by helicopter after waiting ONE WEEK at spot where owner fell down waterfall

THIS is the heartwarming moment a dog is rescued after waiting a whole week at the spot where her owner tumbled down a waterfall.

Dramatic footage show Molly scooped up under the arm of a rescuer as the shivering border collie is recovered from treacherous terrain.

A touching video shows Molly’s owner visibly emotional as the pair share a loving reunion.

Jessica Johnston fell down a 180ft waterfall in New Zealand a week earlier.

Somehow avoiding life-changing injury, Johnston got lucky for a second time when a helicopter crew found her dog stranded in the wilderness.

The pair had been hiking in a remote area of the Arahura Valley when disaster struck.

While atop the towering waterfall, Johnston lost her footing and stumbled over the edge.

Emergency services quickly mobilised, rushing Johnston to a nearby hospital.

However, her faithful friend was nowhere to be seen.

News of Molly’s disappearance quickly spread and within days thousands of dollars had been raised to fund rescue efforts.

“HUGE thank you to so many people who have donated to get a search underway for Molly the dog,” Precision Helicopters said.

“Plan is to first search Tuesday in fine weather conditions with some sophisticated thermal imagery tech coming over from [Christchurch] and a good team of volunteers.”

Enough money had been raised for three hours of flight time, and Molly was found.

Soaked to the bone, the pooch was at the base of the waterfall – only metres away from where Johnston had disappeared.

Pilot Matt Newton said the rescue mission was challenging and that they almost didn’t find her.

“We’d been in the area on three occasions looking for her, with no luck,” he said.

“Once we got the right people on board with the right gear, and the perfect day for it, we hit jackpot,” Newton said.

“She was in pretty good nick, a little bit subdued, but I think she looked like she knew she was being rescued.”

Molly was playing fetch with the crew as soon as they arrived back at base, he added.

Writing on Facebook, Johnston said: “She’s been through a bloody rough week. But with both of us back home I can add this adventure to the list.”

“Still a great trip before our lives got turned upside down,” she added.
