SQUAWKING ON WATER: Meet Bebe the ocean-exploring PARROT diving into the seas in his own submarine – as fans joke: ‘His pals won’t believe him!’

A PET parrot called Bebe ventured where few of his feathered kind has ever been – bobbing underwater in a custom-made submarine.

The bird went snorkelling in the Bahamas alongside his adventurous owner, Steven Lawyer, who had created a bespoke bird-sized sub which delivered oxygen through a paintball cylinder.

The parrot is seen cruising along the ocean floor in his very own private submarine, built by his zany owner.

Steve repurposed a food container and equipped it with air valves for the tiny six-inch-long bird.

It also had a safety alarm, though it is not clear if the Bebe the bird knew how to activate this safety precaution.

Bebe the parrot appeared to nod his head contentedly as he looked out at the coral and glimmering fish on his 15-minute underwater journey.

Steve, his owner, says Bebe was “not stressed” and that he entered the sub “willingly”.

The pair had tested the submarine in a bathtub before launching out to sea.

Bebe the parakeet quickly became an internet sensation when videos showed the adorable green parrot bobbing alongside his owner in the water.

“He’s having the time of his life”, commented one person who saw the adorable green bird exploring the sea.

“His friends are not gonna believe him”, joked another.

Some criticised the owner for the stunt, however, pointing out that the bird had “no business down there” and that he was in “the literal exact opposite place” of where he ought to be.

Incredibly, going snorkelling is not even the strangest activity Steve has done with his pet parrot Bebe.

Last year, the green parakeet was taken sky-diving in which he voluntarily hopped into a bubble strapped to Steve’s belly for the freefall.

Bebe has also accompanied Steve and his family on week-long bike rides, where his owner claimed that he has become “a celebrity of sorts”.

A slightly more horrifying underwater surprise awaited one woman swimming in the sea when she reached down and accidentally grasped hold of a baby alligator.

The heart-stopping moment shows the woman pick something up from the water, thinking it was a branch, before the gator opened his jaws.
