After being “unearthed,” this treasure was used for a truly meaningful purpose.
Recently, a bar in Sussex, England, unearthed a treasure worth £1,000 (30 million VND) from an abandoned dry well. This ancient well, built in the 15th century, is 22.8 meters deep.

The homeowner, Lucie Sargent, said the well is located within The Abergavenny Arms Hotel, which was also built in the 15th century. For the past 250 years, it has been used as a courthouse, a morgue, and finally, a bar.
Lucie Sargen commissioned a team of experts to descend deep into the well and clean out any debris that had accumulated inside. Because it was a wishing well, it had been filled with coins from people seeking good fortune for centuries.

After the cleanup, the team of experts recovered 171kg of coins and various pieces of jewelry, totaling approximately £1,000 in value. They also found other items such as dolls, stuffed toys, and dozens of small knives.

Besides coins and jewelry, the well also contained many other items such as dolls and stuffed animals.
Lucie Sargent said, “People have been throwing coins down there for years. We thought we should take those coins and give something positive back to the community.” Accordingly, 75% of the “treasure” will be taken to the Newhaven RNLI rescue station, with the remainder donated to the nearby Rodmell Parish Church.
