Central Georgia – A father and son’s routine evening chore turned into an unforgettable encounter with the unexplained when a silent, glowing orange orb drifted across the night sky, prompting them to chase and film the mysterious object before it vanished without a trace.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the anonymous father stepped outside his Central Georgia home to take out the trash. As he looked up through the surrounding pine trees, a bright orange glow moving steadily overhead immediately caught his attention. He quickly pointed it out to his son, who had been chatting and laughing with him about music. Both stood transfixed, watching the luminous phenomenon for several minutes before deciding to record it.
The father later shared the 58-second video on “The UFO Reddit,” a forum dedicated to UFO discussions, along with a detailed account of the sighting. “Was taking out the trash and looked up and noticed something bright orange headed overhead through the pines,” he wrote. “Still scratching our heads on what we saw.”
In the footage, the shining orange orb glides through the gray winter skies, appearing to move slightly upward or downward along its path. As the father followed the object on foot to capture a clearer view away from the dense trees, the orb seemed to react. “When I first observed it the light was huge, but it was way off, like a 1/2 mile,” he explained. “As it got closer, it seemed to dim but stayed the same luminous lighting. As I walked further to capture it, I thought what if it was trying to evade me.” Near the end of the clip, the object appeared to elevate or reduce its luminosity before disappearing suddenly.
The father emphasized several details that ruled out conventional explanations in his mind. Initially believing it might be a plane, he noted the complete absence of sound and the lack of typical aircraft lighting. “It had no sound, and we noticed that it wasn’t something we notice normally as planes and other aircraft fly over,” he responded to commenters. Living just a mile from an airport, the family is accustomed to hearing helicopters and private planes at similar altitudes. “This was something different. It made zero sound as it approached.” He checked the time immediately after recording: approximately 6:41 p.m.
